  2. Satisfied with landlord Customer feedback

  3. The audit What we did • We have done a “skills and interest audit” in our 24 sheltered schemes • Over 400 residents completed a questionnaire • Staff and residents have discussed the results and are using the results to develop new activities • we have also shared the results with Age UK’s volunteer bureau • Aims: • Help older residents contribute to their community • Test our assumptions • Make links between – and beyond - schemes • Give scheme managers clear priorities

  4. “I enjoy…” What they said

  5. “I would like to…” What they said

  6. “I could help with…” What they said

  7. Taking action – some examples • Trip to see Hastings Town FC in action • A Taste Of Africa event – food, music, dancing and dressing up! • Fish & chip suppers • Wii Fit programme • New reminiscence group • Visit from Mary Rose Trust • “Movie Magic” – on the big screen • Age UK are visiting schemes to see what volunteering opportunities – or support – they can offer What we’re doing

  8. Older People’s Forum discussion Residents reflections Lots of ideas for activities people would like Lots of ideas for how to publicise and promote events Lack of interest in some schemes In some schemes residents feel they are not ‘allowed’ to do things We could join in with existing activities – eg Active Hastings/Rother organise country walks

  9. Older People’s Forum discussion Residents reflections Transport is an obstacle – but many people are prepared to pay for taxis or minibuses Some residents are disabled so help is needed to get to and from venues that are accessible Need for co-ordination A small amount of funding is needed to get things going Computers needed in each scheme with ongoing support
