  1. …our motives with family

  2. Two Major Motives…

  3. Givers … … they actually give … see a bigger picture … sincerely want to give of themselves for others because of what Christ has done for them

  4. Takers… … constantly take and want … see themselves first, blind to others … want to gain as much as possible for themselves. They do not understand what Christ has done for them

  5. Our relationship with God Our relationship with others Our relationship with Family

  6. People Make Mistakes… …Parents are No Different

  7. Even when we deal with “Takers”… … God still calls us to be “Givers” Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Eph. 6:1-3 Are we in line with what is “right” ?

  8. Takers and Consequences… … take from God, it’s between you and God … take from others, it’s between you and God but they deal with the consequences as well … take from family, it’s between you and God but it’s personal

  9. Biblical Family Takers… Eli’s Son’s Eli’s sons were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD 1Sa 2:12 Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting…

  10. …So he said to them, “Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours. No, my sons; it is not a good report that I hear spreading among the LORD'S people. If a man sins against another man, God may mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who will intercede for him?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke… 1 Sam. 2:22-25

  11. Two Issues… … no respect/regard for the Lord BIG DEAL !!! This led to the second issue … they didn’t listen to their Father They Broke Their Dads Heart

  12. Taker to Giver… taking and wanting… only saw himself… lacked understanding… … actually gave … saw a bigger picture … understood Grace

  13. Despite our Family, will we be a giver… What About Us ??? Will we take advantage ??? Will we give grace ??? Give consistently, make the most of the opportunities you’ve been given
