  1. Web 2.0 Tools and a CORE Curriculum Signature Course Presented by Debra Zinicola and Joseph Martinelli, Seton Hall University The “Journey of Transformation” is a content driven course as each section shares the same course calendar and is expected to have a mid-term and final exam during the same time period. What makes each course section different, however, is the individual teaching style and strengths of each faculty member. To address the need for variety in weekly reading-response assignments and to combine use of technology skills with serious content learning, the two course professors conducting this study selected applicable Web 2.0 tools and designed appropriate assignments for this course. They selected Glogster, Wordle, and Flickr in combination with traditional software applications of PowerPointand Word. Glogsterand Wordle provided opportunities for multiple modes of expression, and products can be shared publicly or privately at the students’ discretion. What makes this study unique is that it includes students from two different “Journey of Transformation” classes taught by two instructors who are colleagues in the Seton Hall University’s College of Education. The timing was right to abandon the traditional “sage on a stage” model of pedagogy and let the students make use of their technology skills in a creative,content-directed, and engaging way using Glogster and Wordle. What the Students said… “The Glogster tool was more enjoyable for me because it allowed me to be more creative while focusing completely on the text.” “Both Glogster and Wordle are fun to use. It made the class more fun and made the readings easier to understand.”
