  2. Whole Person Development • “PDHPE is directly concerned with supporting the development of the student as a whole person. • Its implementation has the potential to contribute to improved and on going quality of life for all individuals within the community” NSW PDHP K-6 p.5

  3. Essential Life Skill • It is important to teach PDHPE because it is an essential life skill. • Students who are able to draw on knowledge, skills, values and understandings about PDHPE should be able to interact effectively with all areas of the curriculum.

  4. Opportunities to Learn • A comprehensive PDHPE curriculum provides opportunities for students to: • learn practise and refine their skills • knowledge and values thus providing a solid foundation for further education and effective participation in society.

  5. Promotes Positive Lifestyle The teaching of Personal Development Health and Physical Education is valued because: • it is a vital part of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child in our community • we want our children to be accurately informed about issues that affect their health, while promoting positive lifestyle attitudes and choices • we see the teaching of PDHPE as a means of providing knowledge
