  1. Coming Of Age Day 戦時の日

  2. History of Seiji no hi Seiji no hi is the coming of age festival. It first began in 1948 on January the 15th. It was created to celebrate 20 year old Japanese men and women becoming an adult. This means that they are legally allowed to vote, buy tobacco and drink. It also encourages new adult members of society to become good law abiding citizens

  3. How To Dress At a traditional Seiji no hi men often wear their everyday business suit, but women on the other hand dress in the traditional furisode kimono which is a kimono with extended sleeves and elaborate designs. They also wear zori which are slipper like shoes.

  4. What You do at the Seji no hi The Seiji no hi is held all around Japan at their local town halls and other various places. All men and women who are already 20 before the day are invited. There are speeches made and few gifts given out. The 20 year olds then go out for their first official drinks and from there they usually will go to a party to celebrate their new adulthood.

  5. What has Changed About the seiji no hi Over the years the Seiji no hi has changed quite a lot. The 20 year olds that are attending this event are becoming a lot more rude and are doing things like talking on their phone and letting of fire works during speeches. To help prevent this some cities have tried to make this day more fun by having karaoke and other fun events. And even some cities have gone to the extream of taking their celebration to Disneyland. Another thing that has changed over time is who the event is focused on. In past times the event used to focus on the boys because they would have to coming of age days where they would change their names.
