  3. Kalvin’s mother is pregnant with her third child. Kalvin figured out from studying his family for several generations than his mother and father both have the tongue curling alleles Tt. Based on what you know about his parent’s alleles, what is the probability that Kalvin’s new sibling will be able to curl his or her tongue?

  4. Answer these questions in pairs. • Neither of Eileen’s parents can curl their tongues. What is the probability that Eileen can curl her tongue? • Suppose that Geoff’s tongue-curling alleles are TT and Mali’s tongue-curling alleles are Tt. What is the probability that their child will be able to curl his or her tongue? • Marc can curl his tongue and wonders whether his parents can. He asks his mother to try it, and she can’t curl hers. Do you think Marc’s father can curl his tongue? Why or why not? • If Rodney’s mother and father can both curl their tongues, can you conclude that Rodney can curl his tongue? Explain.
