  2. Abstract The basic aim of the project is to enable a home to naturally and intuitively respond to its inhabitants needs. The team plans to implement basic home automation, specifically controlling the devices in a living room, utilizing gesture recognition from a Microsoft Kinect sensor. A user would be able to assign certain gestures to correspond with different actions. Actions in the living room include: turning on/off a device, dimming a light, controlling a TV or other A/V equipment and controlling a PC.

  6. PSSCs • 1. An ability to control AC lights/appliances. 2. An ability to control IR-based devices (TV, etc.). • 3. An ability to control motorized shade (up/down). • 4. An ability to control a computer (via a "virtual touchscreen ") using gestures and voice commands. • 5. An ability to distinctly interpret the gestures and voice commands required for all control functions of the system.
