  5. Findings of the student survey Citizenship: • 55.5% local students - 44.5% international students Faculty: • Business and Economics Faculty (36.1%), followed by Arts, Engineering and Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Faculty. Student status: • Around 90% of respondents current students; • 75% are undergraduates – 25% postgraduates Campus: • Clayton 50% followed by Caulfield with 30%.

  6. Findings of the student survey Log-ins: • nearly 40% log-in weekly or more often • only 86% of respondents used CG to search for jobs. Working status: • Close to half of CG survey respondents have some kind of job (part-time, casual or full time). • Comparison to the Australian University Student Finances Survey 2006 data and the AAGE Candidate Survey 2009 data

  7. Findings of the student survey Type of jobs searched • majority search for casual / part time jobs Applications • 64.8% of students applied for one or more jobs out of which 43.3% were offered one or more jobs • 35.2% did not apply Satisfaction • With opportunities listed: 80% • With quality of the job advertisement: over 96% • Comparison of data to the University & Beyond 2008 data

  8. Feedback, suggestions from students • Further definition of geographical setting of jobs to support searches • Create a ‘see jobs since last log-in’ search facility • Job alerts • Separate field for non-faculty specific jobs (such as tutoring, gardening, catering, etc) • Separate area for international opportunities • Access to CG to be placed in a more central location, such as my.monash portal.

  9. Conclusions / Recommendations • Overrepresentation of international students • What can we do for them? • Marketing to already registered students • Large number of non-loggers who have already registered (approx 10%), • Awareness of job opportunities on Career Gateway (14%) • Marketing campaign to non-registered students • Monash students seem to work less than the national average.
