  3. Beginning Tribal Transit • 2006 applied for Tribal Transit Grant • 2007 applied for Transit Operations Grant • 2007 receive from Shakopee Tribe: • (1) used 14 passenger bus • (1) used 18 passenger bus

  4. Beginning Tribal Transit • October 2008 hire Transit Director • October 2008 hire bus drivers • October, 2008 RFP for Consultant • to write Short Range Transit Plan

  5. Beginning Tribal Transit • November 1, 2008 begin Tribal Transit Service • April, 2009 implement Short Range Plan

  6. Transit Operations • Initial Hours: 7:00AM - 6:00PM • Planned Hours: 7:00AM-10:00PM • Provide youth program transit option

  7. Transit Operations • Daily Routes: • Santee Village to Bloomfield • 15 employees travel from Santee Village • Employers are: • a Call Center and • a Chicken Egg Laying and Meat operation

  8. Transit Operations • Daily Routes (continued): • Santee Village to Niobrara • Tribal Offices • Banking Retail

  9. Transit Operations • Weekly Route: • Santee Village to Yankton, SD • Medical Center and Shopping Center

  10. Practical Matters • Bus Barn is currently a Repair Shop • Bus Barn will be the 1st Pick-up location • Facility has a waiting area for patrons
