Chocolate chip cookie excavation

Chocolate Chip Cookie Excavation

  • Each of you will come up and get a chocolate chip cookie

  • DO NOT EAT IT!

  • You will also get a toothpick and napkin

  • Place your cookie on the napkins and carefully use the toothpick to excavate or pick out the chocolate chips. While doing this try not to disturb the dough portion of the cookie

  • This same process on a larger scale is what archaeologists and anthropologists are doing in the field. They dig up artifacts while trying not to disturb the area too much.

  • They do this so we can learn about cultures of the past and one day archaeologists and anthropologists might study us in the same way!

To s um it up

To sum it up!

  • Summarize two important ideas you have learned today.

  • Is history/archaeology a perfect science?

  • (Quick write is your exit ticket out of class)
