Conclusions and recommendations

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

  • All of the project’s objectives are achieved;

  • A solid ground for the implementation of SAP MED and SAP BIO was created at regional and national levels, however results would depend on the implementation of each of the activities required;

  • Further assistance to the countries and to MAP is necessary for the implementation of relevant NAPs;

  • For future assistance to the countries, a country specific approach should be applied, rather than a general one;

  • The implementation of the activities at a country level is a very sensitive issue from the political, economic and social point of view;

  • Each Mediterranean country should find its own way to comply with the provisions of the Barcelona Convention and the revised LBS Protocol in order to secure sustainable development for its own benefit.
