Journal #1 • Brainstorm and 2 statements re: high school • What is the “game” of high school? • If it is a game, what are the rules? • Have you learned to play the game? • Why do you play? • What happens between youth and jaded teenage years? • How can you get out of the game? • How does the idea that you are here to claim vs. here to receive an education play into this concept of school as a game?

  3. Journal 2 • What are your first impressions after watching this? • This PowerPoint has a lot of information • What stuck out to you? • What does all of this mean to you? How will it impact your life? • What do you think society expects from modern students? • What do you need to do/know now to help you as you enter this world?

  4. Journal 3 • Examine someone else’s Me Board • Come to three conclusions about that person and explain how you know

  5. Journal 4 • Look at the person’s American Icon • Close read it, and attach it • What does it say about America? • What does it mean to be an American? • How does the rest of the world perceive us?

  6. Journal 5 • Read the other person’s poem • Come to two conclusions about that person • Why is it important to know where we come from?

  7. Journal 6 • Your values, traditions and belief brainstorm • Should have about 30 ideas/items listed
