  4. SELECTION CONSIDERATION • AFI 36-2017 – ALO Program • Enthusiasm/Self-confidence • Appearance • Computer Capabilities • Geographic Location • Military Status • Civilian Occupation

  5. PROSPECTIVE ALO INTERVIEW Request a resume Provide info/answer questions ALO Program Brochure Required Training ALO Responsibilities Readiness! Miscellaneous Personal Appearance Weight/hair Uniforms 5

USAFA EXPECTATIONS Log on to the ALOWEB on a routine basis – every time you check your email log on Complete medical, dental and immunizations on an annual basis – you run the risk of not being able to earn points and termination from the program if delinquent Complete Fit Testing annually Have a security clearance or at least applied for one Complete Activity Log on a monthly basis Everyone must do the Online Activity Reports Record the exact time worked Inputted into the system by 4th of the following month Provide timely OPR and PRF inputs Must do a minimum of 16 points in the FY for continued participation in the ALO program and 12 points to receive an OPR Support Career and College Fairs in your assigned schools 6

LOD EXPECTATIONS 4060s evals done on time Make contact with your schools twice a year Follow-up on all candidate inquiries in a timely manner Mandatory attendance at area meetings Make presentations of all appointments and scholarships Logging on to the ALOWEB at least every 2 weeks – last log on turns to red at 14 days and email reminders at 11 days Submitting activity log on a timely basis and consistent with activity form, log ons, additional duties, and time of year Admin time is acceptable – should be less than 20% of your overall point total Additional duties Supporting college fairs, Academy days, etc. 7

APPLICATION PROCESS (cont) Primary Duty ALOs Only: • LAST NAME OF MEMBER_AF FORM 1288.pdf • LAST NAME OF MEMBER_ AF FORM 2096.pdf • LAST NAME OF MEMBER_FIT TEST SCORES Additional Duty ALOs Only: • Letter of Approval from Squadron Commander Retirees and Civilians Only: • Letter of Agreement to perform duties w/o compensation • Letter of reference (civilians only)

  10. WHILE WAITING FOR APPROVAL • Keep Prospective ALO informed and motivated • Encourage participation – attend college fairs • Be ready to train once approved and ALO ID is issued

  11. TRAINING NEW ALOs Phase I Training Under revision…..based on ALO Handbook Mentor ALOs Phase II Training Specific Training for Additional Duties (Congressional Liaison, etc.) Continuation Training Area Annual Meetings 11

  12. SUBSTANDARD PERFORMANCE • Research - get all info first • Probation – inform ALO and RD • Set a probation time limit • Get written feedback that ALO will perform • File an MFR • If commitment cannot be made—a letter of resignation is expected

  13. FIRING ALOs • If ALO requirements are NOT satisfied • LODs must make recommendation • May request probation (for up to one year) • Communication is crucial • Document feedback • Must be processed IAW AFI-2115 Assignment within the Reserve Component • Additional Duty ALOs
