  3. Picasso’s Blue Period was a series of paintings done in a blue monochromatic color scheme. Paintings were created in response to Picasso’s friend’s suicide. These paintings were done during Picasso’s early starving artist period. The paintings depicted struggling down and out people in symbolic shades of blue.
