  10. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • Jesus believed in preservation He Recognized Moses: Mark 12:26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

  11. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • Jesus believed in preservation He recognized David. Luke 20:42-43 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

  12. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • Jesus believed in preservation He recognized Daniel. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

  13. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • Jesus believed in preservation He referred to the whole of scripture. John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

  14. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • Jesus believed in preservation He taught that the scripture was authoritative. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

  15. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • The Apostles believed in preservation.

  16. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • The Apostles believed in preservation. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

  17. Preservation: A Bible Doctrine? • The Apostles believed in preservation. 2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spakeas they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  18. The Promise of Preservation

  19. The Promise of Preservation • Jesus Promised Preservation.

  20. The Promise of Preservation • Jesus Promised Preservation. • Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. • Luke 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. • Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. • Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. • Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

  21. The Promise of Preservation • The Old Testament taught Preservation. • Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. • Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. • Psalm 119:89-90 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

  22. The Promise of Preservation • The New Testament teaches preservation. • Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
