  1. Cottonport Elementary School Mrs. Wendy C. Adams Principal “Striving for excellence one child at a time.”

  2. Goal: School and Community Relations • Cottonport Elementary School will meet the Fundamental Practice Level or above in the critical element of External Collaboration.

  3. Needs Assessment • In 2009 – 2010, Cottonport Elementary attained a score of “minimal practices” in External Collaboration. • External Collaboration was simply defined as parents and community being given the opportunity to provide input/feedback on a variety of topics. • External Collaboration will now be defined as communication with parents and community being utilized in the decision making process.

  4. Evidence/Measurement of implementation of parent and community input: • The use of parental/community collaboration (i.e. Surveys) to be utilized in the decision making process • Partnerships among community businesses, community members, and Cottonport Elementary School • School Improvement Team Meetings • Media coverage of educational events at Cottonport Elementary School • Collaboration with LSU Southern Ag Center in Character Education Programs • Comparison of attendance for parental involvement and attendance comparable from last year to this year

  5. Implementation Strategies 2010-2011 • The Kennedy Center Century 21 (parent nights) • Current events posted on school-in-sites website • Collaboration with Women’s Mayor’s Commission on school beautification projects • Parenting workshops provided through the LSU Southern Ag Center at PVO Meetings and Faculty • Parent Volunteer Organization

  6. It is the vision of Cottonport Elementary School to promote intense learning which fosters safe, prepared, positive, obedient, and responsible thinkers. We strive to create collaboration between our staff, our parents, our community, and individual students to achieve optimum excellence in a safe and enriching learning facility.
