  2. Elephant Poaching • Elephants are very often poached for their tusks. • Elephant tusks are made out of ivory • Poachers sell ivory on the black market • Most of the ivory goes to China and Japan, but there is a growing demand for it in the United States

  3. Elephant Death Rate In 1930 five to ten million African elephants existed. Now less than 1% of that number live and that number is decreasing every single day. For every one live elephant, there are two carcasses.

  4. Extinction Rate Elephants are sometimes killed by the thousands. 8% of elephants are poached every year and that is a growing statistic. Elephants will most likely be extinct by 2020.

  5. Ivory (Elephant Tusks) Demand for Ivory in dollars per kilo The demand for ivory is increasing at a rapid rate. As the population of elephants decreases the higher the demand gets. As the demand gets higher more people poach elephants and more are killed.
