  2. What is VESL Lab? • VESL Lab is a computer lab designed to practice ESL lessons and computer skills. • This is not a Microsoft Office class. • But we do mini weekly projects on MS Word to help you become more comfortable with the application.

  3. Student Expectations • Bring a folder to class. You will keep all of your assignments in a folder in class. • Every week you will be expected to complete ESL lessons and the mini lesson. • Every Thursday you will complete an online survey. • Everyone is expected to cooperate and help each other. We want to make this a fun lab! You can learn a lot helping another classmate!

  4. What kind of ESL Lessons will we learn? • You can always use the ESL software that is on the computer. • There will be weekly ESL lessons that you can do to improve your English: writing, listening, pronunciation, spelling, reading, grammar and more! • Intermediate/Advanced Students will be expected to complete a summary on www.newsforyouonline.com • All students can read and listen to stories on Marshall Adult Education • And much more!

  5. Can I improve my keyboarding skills? • Yes. We have a software called ULTRA KEY. You should practice a little typing each day. The more familiar you are with the keyboard, the easier it is to use the computer and complete assignments.

  6. Do I have to finish all of the assignments? • If you want a certificate at the end of the session, you will need to present the teacher with your organized folder with your assignments. If you miss 2 or 3 assignments, that’s ok. Don’t worry about it. But you will need to have an organized folder.

  7. What will I learn in this class? • ESL Lessons online • ESL lessons on software in Room 11 • Keyboarding on Ultra Key • Navigating and logging on to my webpage for weekly lessons • Use a scanner • Use a printer • Save files to your folder • Blogging • Save files to your personal flashdrive

  8. Continued… • Creating lessons on MS WORD • Creating a PowerPoint • Adding clipart • Using the toolbar in MS WORD • Using templates on MS WORD • Create a brochure • Record your voice • Create a webpage • And so much more!

  9. Do I need to come to class everyday? • It is a good idea to come everyday if you can. • Every Monday I will teach a new mini lesson. You will have the week to finish it. • If you are absent, you will need to sit next to someone in the class and ask them to help you. • The more time you spend on the computer, the faster you will learn.

  10. Teacher Comments • I hope you have fun in this class and that you learn a lot of new things! • Sharon Ram
