PRINCIPLES • Proximity or nearness of a story- A story is valued when it is local • Immediacy or timeliness- You get the story on the scene and you do not need to wait for bulletins or copies • Accuracy- This is the reporting of fair, balanced and accurate reporting • Truthfulness- Reporting on facts • Conflict-Reporting of stories concerning tension or disagreements • Ethics-This is what you consider to be right or wrong. • Autonomy-This is were journalist are free from the state. • Bizarreness – This is the reporting on un usual events or occurrences. • Objectivity – This is the reporting of issues as they are • Prominence – This is the reporting of prominent people in the name of public interest
