Perception Study April 2012 310 businesses outside the county interviewed • Only 17% described East Sussex as a good business location • When respondents were familiar with East Sussex, the view was far more positive • London businesses were the least positive about the county as a business destination

  22. What are we doing? • Gather business data to help us open up dialogue with • Mobile phone operators • GovtDeptfor Communities, Media and Sport • Aim to improve reception in rural locations and key transport routes

  23. Why are we doing it? 84% of businesses have suffered due to poor connectivity Average cost to small business = £10,000 per year

  24. How are we doing it? Collaboration with OpenSignal, to build a picture of mobile ‘not spots’ and estimate the impact on local businesses
