  2. Kunststoffen maken • Van kleine moleculen worden lange ketens van koolstofatomen gemaakt. • Lange koolstofketens heten macromoleculen • Kunststoffen bestaan uit lange ketens met koolstof atomen.

  3. Nafta • Kunststofmoleculen worden gemaakt uit de nafta fractie. (molecuulformule: C4H10t/m C12H22) • Grote moleculen worden gekraakt.

  4. Kraken en polymeriseren • Gekraakt betekent: in stukjes hakken • Deze kleine stukjes kunnen weer samen gaan tot hele lange koolstofketens. • Dit proces heet: polymeriseren. • Kunststoffen zijn polymeren
