  2. What is the myth? • In our every day lives people have casual or fatal accidents that cause time-based or permanent memory loss(amnesia). • With no real cure on how to fix their memories, rumors have spread that causing more injury to ones self can bring back our lost memories.

  3. Types of amnesia • there are two main forms of amnesia: • anterograde (the inability to form new memories) and retrograde (the inability to recall past events)

  4. anterograde • It is the inability to form new memories • A person who has it still has memories of their past but cannot produce memories after-the event which caused anterograde- • Its said to be caused by a brain injury or traumatizing event.(to Hippocampus) • It cannot be determined if it is a permanent or not but is known to help people forget things

  5. retrograde • It is the inability to recall past events/actions • A person who has this type of amnesia can create new memories but cannot recall past memories(may be able to remember some things) • Said to be cased by brain injury(to Hippocampus) • It can also cause permanent or temporary amnesia depending on the injury

  6. Hippocampus • responsible for encoding long-term memories • named because its shape looks like a seahorse • The hippocampus is known to be associated with the consolidation of episodic memories, which are memories of personally experienced events and their associated emotions.

  7. 3 Types of Memory • Semantic memoryis the memory of how one understands and other defines knowledge unrelated to specific experiences • Procedural memory is memory for how to do things

  8. Is the Myth True • Unfortunately the Myth is not true and will probably most likely delay curing ones amnesia or just cause more brain damage to the person.

  9. Ways to help with amnesia • Best cure for amnesia is brain exercising which can be done by writing daily schedule in a notepad and memorizing those activities. • Recalling some of these events without using the notepad helps memory enhancement grow • . Therapies to boost memory are yoga and meditation. • To improve memory, some eat warm decoction made using holy basil leaves • Memory loss treatment • Sufficient rest and sleep also helps in making brain function better.
