Focusing on Bridges • Overall, 10.5% of all US bridges were classified as structurally deficient by US FHA in 2013. • Overall, 13.9% of all US bridges were classified as functionally obsolete. • Only 3.0% of AZ’s 7,862 bridges were classified as structurally deficient. • Only 9.1% were functionally obsolete. • AZ only one of nine states that did not bring down the number deficient bridges since Minneapolis. • As with the nation as a whole, locally owned bridges (mainly county) are significantly more likely to be deficient.
