  • What can you expect

    • The areas that you will aid in clearing are the same as in the event of a fire system activation

    • These areas are located on the emergency clipboards at all service points.

    • Simple notify patrons if someone refuses to leave call for security.

    • Once everyone is in a shelter area staff should meet in front of the 1st floor west restrooms, and seek shelter from there.

What you can expect cont.

Security will close the fire curtains over the grand stair case and lock the elevators down on the first floor of the building.

Plan to use the emergency stairs of the Miller Learning Center ANY time there is an emergency evacuation.

  • Once you reach the shelter areas

    • Expect to be there for 30 plus minutes

    • The official “all clear” comes from public safety and at times may take a few minutes.

    • Expect the 1st floor to be very noisy, so you will need to listen carefully for the “all clear” to be issued.

  • Once an “all clear” has been issued wait on instructions.

  • There will need to be a quick check by security to ensure that the building is still Safe.

  • If the building has major damage you will be direct toward other campus locations.
