Objectives • Move beyond traditional “silo’d support focused” to engaged Comms and KM that supports CRP outcomes • Bring together diversity of experiences to see how we build Comms/KM for CRPs • KM/Data/Information Managers • Comms staff – social media, writer, etc • Communication for development • Facilitators, M&E • Researchers • Develop plans and actions for specific CRPs

  3. Innovative Design • Broken into Four areas:

  4. Message 1: Bringing together a range of disciplines Blogging Capacity buiding Publishing Branding Events Story telling Messaging Metrics Internal comms Social media Writeshops Facilitation Repositories Documentation Repackaging intranet Open Access Taxonomies Video, Radio, Media Policy

Message 2: Priorities for CRPs change over time Impacts Communication roles over time Repackage, target, translate, adapt the science Outcomes Communicate ‘the science’ and outcomes Research Communicate about the Science Project Start up Communicate about the project Document processes, learning and outputs Engagement with stakeholders and partners & Messaging Project Launch Project End

  7. Message 4: Its all about Outcomes KM has ability to assist researchers move from outputs to outcomes. We work in this space

What did WLE Take Away • Leverage knowledge and experiences of partners (don’t build our own ‘machine’) • Built a coalition of the willing – focused on comms/km staff working with research theme leaders • Big ideas (still in process): • Further explore ME&L for comms/KM/CRPs • Boundary partner audit and assessment • Building a knowledge commons for WLE
