Background to BN GOLD project • Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) designed for practicing Registered Nurses • Eight units • Currently delivered in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, provincial Papua New Guinea, Australia • GOLD funding to support development of on-line delivery & increase market share • Also an opportunity to update curriculum

  3. The process • Curriculum development retreat, resulting in 2 new units and major revision of most others • Consultation with major partners • Student forums where possible • Resistance to a fully on-line development • Planned ‘roll-out’ of GOLD units accelerated to increase attractiveness to nurses in SE Asia

  4. The hitches • Staff workloads high • Had to delay roll out of 1 other new unit • One key staff member working in Malaysia • Most staff not proficient with WebCT • Had to allow for students with no on-line access to students with broadband • Some tutorial staff lack training, others more advanced than Monash • Contractual arrangements with partners
