  4. History and Future • Course supports technical training in area of CM • Student population primarily in LOG and SPRDE areas • FY03 has 25 offerings scheduled • When LOG 235 starts, LOG 204 no longer planned for LOG Level II certification

  5. End of Course Survey Results • October 02 summary from Provost Office shows all questions within 9 % of baseline or higher. • 7 of 16 questions 1% above baseline or greater • 9 of 16 questions within 9% of baseline • See hardcopy handout for details

Log 204 CM TLOs • TLO 1: Given a specific situation, correctly relate the role and interrelationships of the key elements of Configuration Management (CM) (e.g. CM Planning, Identification, Status Accounting, Audits, Control, and Data Management) • TLO 2: Provided a scenario, distinguish the role of CM in the SE Process • TLO 3: Given a case exercise, explain how CM concepts, definitions, principles, and applications are applied within the system life cycle. • TLO 4: Given a scenario, identify Configuration Items and interfaces for a proposed system.

Log 204 CM TLOs cont’d • TLO 5: Given a scenario, identify, determine, and analyze CM data requirements. • TLO 6: Given a scenario, build a status accounting system. • TLO 7: Given a set of alternatives, differentiate among Functional and Physical Configuration Audits (FCA / PCA) and technical reviews.

  8. Log 204 CM TLOs cont’d • TLO 8: Given a scenario, control the configuration of a system throughout its life cycle, including: • 1. Develop, assess and justify an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) / Request for Deviation (RFD) • 2. Review an ECP/RFD and recommend actions for the configuration manager • 3. Determine the implementation method for a change • TLO 9: Given a scenario, prepare / review SCM documentation

  9. Log 204 CM TLOs cont’d • TLO 10: Given a scenario, select performance metrics to manage a CM program • TLO 11: Given a scenario, develop and review a CM plan for a Contractor and a Government program office • TLO 12: Given a scenario, develop a structure for a CM program.

  10. Log 204 Issues • LOG 204 to be removed as Level II certification requirement. • Recommend course be retained as optional for positions and for continuing education • Course requires minimal updates as primary references change.
