  13. A meeting of seismic station operators was held in Trinidad and Tobago from April 4-6, 2006. The meeting was attended by representatives of 14 institutions in the region. IRIS and the University of Sao Paulo organized the workshop “Managing Waveform Data and Related Metadata from Seismic Networks”. Representatives of every seismic network in the Caribbean attended this meeting from July 10-14, 2006. Intermediate Level Earthworm (seismic data exchange platform) was offered by Mr. Angel Rodriguez, USGS Contractor, at the University of Panamá from December 13-16.

  14. SEA LEVEL No funds were available for an intersessional workshop. Utilizing IOC funds for the ICG preparatory meeting and the vice-chair’s IOCARIBE-GOOS funds, a meeting of significant parties was held immediately prior to (27-28 November, 2006, in San Juan, PR) the ICG2 preparatory meeting.

  17. OTHER ACTIVITIES DURING 2006/2007 • Bathymetric charts • Tsunami Warning Focal Point (TWFP) and Tsunami National Contact (TNC) • PTWC: draft communications plan for the Caribbean • Mechanisms to integrate into the CTWS non earthquake sources of tsunami • Communications alternatives

  18. Communications Plan for the Interim Advisory Information Service to the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions • In July, 2006, The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center submitted the Communication Plan requested by ICG/CARIBE-EWS I for the Interim Tsunami Advisory Information Service to the Caribbean Sea and Adjacent Regions. • Plan was approved • The Member States will review the preliminary forecasts points that are under a Member State’s jurisdiction and will inform the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center of any modifications. • The PTWC will carry out regular communication tests among the participants.

  19. A CARIBBEAN TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER A Caribbean Tsunami Warning Center to be located in the region REGIONAL WORKSHOPS ON THE CARIBBEAN TSUNAMI WARNING SYSTEM To organizea series of workshops on the Caribbean Tsunami Warning System for National Tsunami Warning Focal Points (TWFP). The first two workshops to be organized before the end of 2007, including one for English speaking countries and another for Spanish speaking countries. TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE INTERSESSIONAL WORKING GROUPS

  20. WORKSHOP ON STANDARDS FOR TSUNAMI EARLY WARNING SYSTEM FOR THE CARIBBEAN AND ADJACENT REGIONS IASPEI-New Manual of Seismological Observatory Practice The Manual on Sea Level Measurements and Interpretation ESTABLISHMENT OF A SEA LEVEL CONSORTIUM The ICG member states will consider and evaluate before the next ICG meeting the necessity of having a Sea Level Consortium for the Caribbean.

  21. ESTABLISHMENT OF A CARIBBEAN TSUNAMI INFORMATION CENTER THE CARIBEAN TSUNAMI AND OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS EWS PERMANENT TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT BUDGET FOR THE BIENNIAL (2008-2009) FOR THE TSUNAMI AND OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS WARNING SYSTEM FOR THE CARIBBEAN SEA AND ADJACENT REGIONS

  22. REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TSUNAMI SCIENCE AND SERVICES FOR IMPACT MITIGATION ICG/CARIBE-EWS II will organize, in coordination with the Regional IOC Subcommission, just prior to the next IOCARIBE X Session, Venezuela (April-May/2008) a scientific symposium under the main theme: “Tsunami in the Caribbean: science and services for impact mitigation”.

  23. Establish an initial core system for detecting and verifying tsunami with the CARIBE-EWS by the end of 2008. • Assist member states in the development of down-stream capacities to provide warning information at the community level. • Actively plan to take over the full responsibility for the system with a Caribbean Tsunami Warning Center in the region at least by 2010 and thus end with great appreciation the interim coverage provided by PTWC.

  24. Panama will host III SESSION OF THE IOC/ICG CARIBBEAN EWS January 2008
