  1. A Signaling Architecture for All IP Wireless Networks ITSUMO Group itsumo@research.telcordia.com An SAIC Company

  2. Objectives • Propose a signaling architecture for All IP wireless networks. • Describe an overall signaling architecture for interworking of All IP wireless networks with the existing mobile telephony and the PSTN. • Identify open issues for further study.

  3. Signaling Architecture of All IP Wireless Networks

  4. Merits of the SIP-based Signaling Architecture Pros & Cons

  7. Summary & Open Issues • Proposed • a SIP based signaling architecture for All IP wireless networks, and • an overall signaling architecture for interworking of All IP wireless networks and existing mobile telephony and PSTN. • Open issues for further study are: • MAAAQ entity, i.e., • mobility management, • Authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA), and • QoS management on top of SIP, and • an interworking module between the 2G wireless A interface and an SGCP/MGCP/MEGACO call agent.
