  4. Facts • Has three floors of paintings and • sculptures from 1848 to 1914. • Was nearly destroyed by a hotel • developer. • Was called Gare d’Orsay as a • railway station. • Gare d’Orsay was closed in 1939.

  5. Les Invalides • Largest single collection/complex of monuments in Paris. • 2 blocks away from Eiffel Tower. • Built by Louis XIV. • Burial site for France’s war heroes. • Was built from 1671 to 1676. • Is 328 years old.

  7. Facts • Used to house wounded soldiers. • Was a retirement home for war heroes. • All buildings relate to France’s military history. • Full name was “Hopital des Invalides, which means, “Hospital for invalides.” • Napoleon’s tomb is in the dome.
