  2. ANCIENT FARMING • Olden days farmers grew different kinds of crops-grains and vegetables-according to the season. • They made use of hand tools and animals for farming • They kept enough grains for their needs and sold the rest.

  3. TOOLS USED FOR AGRICULTURE

  4. Ploughing and sowing the seeds

  5. Transplanting of the seedlings.

  6. Weeding-removing the weeds

  7. WHEAT READY FOR HARVEST

  8. PEOPLE THRUSHING SEEDS .

  9. Modern agriculture includes using machines replacing people, using hybrid variety seeds, using artificial fertilizers using insecticides and using novel methods in agriculture . These improvements have increased the yield of the crops reducing manual work and saving the time spent. Modern methods

Disadvantages of modern farming • Quality of the seed decreases due to the use of hybrid varities. • Growing same type of crops in the same field makes the soil poor in mineral contents. • Causes air pollution due to spraying of insecticides. • Food crops sprayed with insecticides cause threat to human life causing diseases.
