  1. Team Nuclear Cookies Electrorefiner Salt Removal Problem Statement: Design, build, and test a system to be used in a “hot cell” environment that removes molten salt from a Mark-V Electrorefiner and freezes it in appropriate sizes. Team: Garrett Guinn, Brendan Crosbie, Gannon Johnson TRAY SYSTEM - features a central axis for easy emptying and drafted pockets for easy salt cube release. FINISHED PROTOTYPE - allows for easy salt extraction and freezing to maintain safe salt levels in the electrorefiner. ACME SCREW GEAR DRIVE - allows for full control over the height of the displacement body and lid. TRAY FRAME – features folding tray legs and main body for easy storage to conserve valuable hot cell space BUCKET LID - provides protection against accidental spills and leaks BUCKET DRAINAGE VALVE- is easily replaceable so that salt freeze won’t be a major problem Special Thanks To: Tom Johnson, Tom Pfeiffer, Dr. Steve Beyerlein, Russ Porter, Bill Crane, Natalie Gese & IEW
