  2. Youth , employment and trade union in Nepal • Young people’s participation in the employment sector is increasing . • The young people have the negative attitude towards the trade union. • The traditional image of the trade union is responsible for this negative attitude . • The youths are not interested in joining the trade unions in the same traditional trend of organizing. • The privatisation and other related factors has increased the retirement schemes as a result , the trade unions are severely loosing the membership. • The heavy politicized image of the trade union is also the major cause for the youth’s deny to be the member of union.

  3. Organizing the youth in the trade union • Trade union should initiate to change the attitude of young worker towards trade union. • Development of positive attitude creates the environment of organizing of the youths in trade union • The young people should be gathered through the NGN ( New Generation Network Meetings) to create awareness on trade union rights and importance of it • To attract the youth towards union , the image building should be the most . The union should be made socially responsible so that the perception of the young people towards union changes. We are actively involved in it.

  4. Commerce sector and youth • Commerce sector is one of the largest sectors of Nepal with the total workforce of about 150 thousand. Among this, the majority of the people working are below the age of 35 ie the young age group. so, we can say commerce sector is dominated by youths. • Organizing commerce sector means to organize the people of the young age group.

  5. WE are doing…… NGN ( New Generation Network Meeting ) : • Through the new generation network meeting ( NGN ) ,theyoungpeople are invited to discuss on certain topics related to work scenario, changing world , globalization and its impact which has the indirect relation with the trade union ultimately. The people around 50 in number are gathered. They come just to talk and listen about the issue. And through the discussion, ultimately they come to know about the trade unionism, the activity of the trade union and the role of young people in changing trade union dynamics.

  6. Other Activites • Basic trade union courses for young workers. • Outbound Programs • Organizing courses • Interaction among the young workers. • Involving the youths in social work as environment sanitation , blood donation, awareness campaigns etc.
