  1. The Holy Trinity 1God in 3 Persons Section 1 Erle Ladson Jr Religion 11

  2. The Basis of our Faith • The mystery of the Holy Trinity is the basis of Christian faith. • It is revealed to us by God about God only to be learned if God reveals it in us. • We also can never understand the meaning of this truth about God. • Jesus reveals to us the identity of God which we trust in his body the church of one God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit the Holy Trinity.

  3. Heart of Jesus the Revelation of Gods Identity • Early Christians believed that the same God was with them in spirit remaining faithful to Gods promise that he would remain with them even after his life on earth. • God became the advocate for them and his apostles which is why he granted them their gifts on Pentecost Sunday. • Like the apostles we share our faith and welcome all to the church that’s why during baptism we say “ I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit

  4. Heart of Jesus the Revelation of Gods Identity cont. • We believe in the Holy Trinity because Jesus the way of truth and life teaches us who god really is. • The Father loving us so much sent us his only Son and even after his death the spirit remained here with us on earth. • Jesus invites us in that mysterious way to share in the Triune God now and in the afterlife the final reward for all good Christians.

  5. God the Father • God reveals himself to the people of Israel as Father they trusted and believed in him as being the creator provider and protector. • God gave the Israelites the law made the covenant with them and served as their true king and ruler. • God also sent Jesus to reveal himself in a better way to us.

  6. God the Father cont… • Jesus taught that not only was god the creator but he was also the Father of a Son who is equally and truly God the unique Son. • Jesus ministry also taught us of a loving and merciful Father, through Jesus we learn to believe in God. • Through the Paschal mystery the full testament to God being the Father was when he gave his own self-sacrificing Son for our salvation. • Through his Son the Father redeems us and through his Son we will be raised from the dead.

  7. God the Son • On Pentecost Sunday the Father and the Son reveal the extent of the Blessed Trinity • Apostles also believed Jesus to be the word of God. • Even after his baptism a true sign of his divinity was revealed when God said “ You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22 • Jesus miracle workings also attribute to working through him curing the deaf, blind and even conquering death by raising the dead confirm our beliefs in the divinity of Christ. • At the Council of Nicea the apostles said “ Jesus, the son of God, is consubstantial with the Father… He is God!

  8. God The Holy Spirit • When the Lord promised to send the disciples a Paraclete after he walks the ways of the suffering dead and after his ascension God still has a tool on earth which is to protect us even though his earthly Son is no longer here. • Even though we cannot see it the Holy Spirit always existed with the Father and The Son. • The Holy Spirit gives us the faith and encouragement to always believe in Jesus our Lord and savior, this same power also allows us to profess God as our Father fulfilling our belief in the Triune God.
