What is IPRC? • The SEI initiated the IPRC as a technology scout vehicle. • It is a two-year effort (August 2004 – August 2006) • With international representation • Its purpose is to forecast promising process technologies for the next generation of challenges in the software-intensive enterprise.

  3. What Challenges Are We Trying to Address? • Technological innovation never stops • Today’s solutions were once yesterday’s ideas • The problem space continues to change and new challenges emerge; we must always be preparing for the future

  4. The IPRC Approach to this Challenge • Bring together the international process community • researchers • technologists • acquirers • suppliers • users • Interact, debate, discuss • Develop an R&D roadmap • a view of the future landscape of process needs • a forecast of technology possibilities • an agenda for strategic research directions

The IPRC Organization • SEI is the IPRC Coordinator • Membership: • Industry - leaders in process change, bringing the “state of the practice” and needs for the future • Researchers - leaders in process research, bringing the “state of the art” and new ideas for the future • Research funding agencies – enablers of change, bringing support for the “state of the possible”

Interested in Getting Involved? - Become a Sponsoring Member Memberships are available for organizations who would like to participate and sponsor the IPRC (Sponsoring Member) 18 Sponsoring Memberships available Who should consider becoming a Sponsoring Member? Software-intensive enterprises that are • innovators of process technology • users of process technology for competitive advantage Membership fee is $75K per year, $150K total, provides a seat at the table for a delegate of your choice

Benefits to Being a Sponsoring Member • Ask yourself these two questions: • (1) Do you know where to put your R&D investment dollars? • there are so many possibilities • Inform your decisions with IPRC input, we will agree on a few priority investment areas • be intimately involved in the creation, get your key issues on the table • (2) What will be your differentiator as a leader in the future? • you may be using ISO, six sigma, agile, or CMMI today • but what will distinguish your organization as a leader 5-10 years from now? • be intimately involved in setting the standards for future excellence
