  2. BUILDING REGIONAL NETWORKS-TUSSTRATEGIES, SOUTH ASIA TEAM. • Q-a, What would be the best (or better) solutions for computer communications for TUs, Nationally. • Ans.a. This is the era of information age in which adopting new ideas and techniques are very much vital for the progress of any segment of society including trade unions. To give our best to our union members and to protect and promote their interest, it is imperative to keep abreast with new technological advances so as to enable us to carry out our activities more systematically and professionally. The using of computers is becoming increasingly important in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and now trade union organisations are taking advantage of new technology in their organisational activity mostly in order to improve communication.

Solutions:- • Use of IT in the federation Offices. • Advanced training on IT system including module based. • Availability of more computer. • Availability of internet connection. • The federations should develop their own web page.

  4. BUILDING REGIONAL NETWORKS-TUSSTRATEGIES, SOUTH ASIA TEAM. Q.b. What would be joint initiatives and actions to be taken by TUs in building and promoting regional or national solidarity networks? Give examples how or in what issues you can use SoliComm joint actions.

  5. BUILDING REGIONAL NETWORKS-TUSSTRATEGIES, SOUTH ASIA TEAM. Ans.Q-b. Joint initiatives and actions. • The trade unions developed their own websites. • Futher and continuing education and training. • Used for networking and building alliances

  6. BUILDING REGIONAL NETWORKS-TUSSTRATEGIES, SOUTH ASIA TEAM. EXAMPLES OF SOLICOMM JOINT ACTIONS. • To train and educate trade union representatives. • To improve communication between the central bodies of organisations and representatives at different levels. • To use as tools for transmitting trade union messages and ideas. • To increase awareness to strengthen trade union networks. • To campaign for the defense of the free trade unions .

  7. Q.c- What role should be played by ICFTU-APRO and ILO-Actrav in supporting such network? • Ans. The International Labour (ILO) office in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, provided training on IT system and its use within the trade union, where representatives from all the national centers participated. • ICFTU-APRO, can provide support to affiliates for networking on IT system.
