  1. Senior Design Project Update1/29/14 Jake Bumpus, Casey Fitzgerald, and Michael Schultis

  2. What we have achieved • Establish Graphical User Interface (GUI) • Established Serial Communication • Peristaltic Pump (Old and New) • Mass Balance • Pressure Transducer Reading • Analog Circuitry • Air Regulator Feedback Loop • PID Feedback Control • Preliminary PulsatilityCapabilities

  3. Graphical User Interface • Basic Control Panel • Pump Control • Mass Balance • Top Level Menu

  4. Basic Control Panel • Pressure transducer reading • Pressure transducer calibration curve (recall, plot value, clear plot) • Feedback Control

  5. Pump Control • Investigating rate of pump update • Physiologic flow rates seem feasible • Add Excel input – any additions?

  6. Mass Balance • Acquires data at specified time interval • Saves data to excel file (.csv) • Option to zero and read • Needed: include pressure readings in data log

  7. Top Level Menu Concept • Ability to run up to four experiments at once • Predefined experimental setups

  8. Looking Ahead • Immediate Future: • Determine feasibility of peristaltic pumps for pulsatility • Syringe pump communication • Will require RJ11-to-USB converter • Add Mass Balance and data logging to combined pressure system • Resolve power supply issues • Long term • Combine/modify all components for three different experiments • Finalize hardware design • Power supply • Integrated circuit • USB hubs/converters • Unified box

  9. Unified Hub • Allow for Four Setups • 8 Pressure transducers • 8 Pressure regulators • 6 Peristaltic Pumps • 2 Mass balances • 2 Syringe pumps • Circuitry contained within the box • One power cord and 1 usb to laptop
