Warm-up: silently grades on last test: 50, 72, 75, 60, 65, 80, 98, 95, 100, 85, 80, 90 1) find the measures of center 2) find the 5-number summary 3) make a dot plot 4) make a box plot What grade represents the center of the data? Explain finished? do Improving your reasoning skills pg. 150

  2. Objective Students will review setting up and solving proportions and use undo tables to solve equations. Students will take notes, work with their groups to solve problems and present their work to the class. ANNOUNCEMENTS District Assessment Wed/ Thurs This WILL COUNT as a test grade TUTORING TODAY 3- 3:45 Wed at lunch

  3. Homework due today NONE Homework due next class finish chapter 2 review sheet Study for test (review/correct chapt 1 and 2 quizzes/tests) COME TO TUTORING FOR HELP!

  4. pass back tests NOTES— PERCENTS have a denominator of 100 (ALWAYS) Only use percent ratios if you have a PERCENT problem ALWAYS write your units! Use a ratio table to help. THINK about your answer– does it make sense?

  5. Think about different ratios and proportions…do you need to review any of these? Percent proportion Ratios 3:4  if 14 girls, how many boys? rate denominator is 1 Measurement conversions slope=

  6. Just un-do it remember: additionUNDOESsubtraction subtractionUNDOESaddition multiplicationUNDOESdivision divisionUNDOESmultiplication AND order of operations (work left to right!) Parenthesis (or GROUPINGS) Exponents Multiply OR divide, working left to right Add OR subtract, working left to right

  7. If you were “evaluating”, use PEMA 8 + 2x let x = 4 8 + 2(4) substitute– x is out, 4 is in 8 + 8 multiply 8 + 8 = 16 add When we “solve” equations we UNDO We use PEMA “in reverse” to find X (X STANDS ALONE)– see undoing chart

  8. practice 1) finish undo tables from last class 2) work on chapter review handout with your group----FINISH for homework Students will be asked to present their work to the class. Please TAKE NOTES as students present!

  9. debrief what did you learn today? What was easy? What is still difficult?
