  1. Georgia Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program Bibb County School District

Purpose • The purpose of the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program is to provide prevention education to adolescents of Georgia regarding the dangers of alcohol and drug use as to relates to the operation of motor vehicles to ensure instructors provide quality training; to provide for the issuance of certificates to persons who successfully complete the ADAP course. The Law • According to Title 40 of the Georgia Code Annotated (O.C.G.A), the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) is mandated by legislature and is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Driver Services and Department of Education. Bibb County Compliance • All Bibb County High School must participate in the Georgia Alcohol Drug Awareness Program as mandated by Title 40, Georgia Code Annotated (O.C.G.A.). • The School Athletic Director has the responsibility in ensuring that all Health/Physical Education teachers are in compliance with the Georgia Alcohol Drug Awareness Program. • Each school must assign two ADAP administrators, (1) the principal secretary and (2) Registrar. • All ADAP administrators and instructors must complete the ADAP DT Instructor Application. • The ADAP course must be taught in all Health/Physical Education Classes preferably in the freshman year. Bibb County Compliance • All ADAP ordering should be on the checkout list for the athletic departments of each school. • The school administrator will enter all class rolls into the Class Roster section of the ADAP system by the 20th day of each semester. • All ADAP Class Rolls with passing or failing scores must be filed with the semester and year taken in the principal’s secretary personnel files label as ADAP. • A score of 70% must be achieved on the ADAP Competency Test in order for a student to be issued a certificate of successful completion.
