  2. Why should we learn prefixes and root words? Learning these words will help you increase your vocabularies and as a byproduct your reading skills as well. Learning prefixes and root words will specifically improve your test taking skills and also your ability to read at your grade level and beyond. Listen & Learn 

  3. Activity: Create Notecards & Key Ring. • Copy down the list on the note card sheets provided. Use 1 side the card that you will cut out as the “Root word” or “prefix side.” The other side is for you to copy the definition of the root word and /or prefix in addition to examples. Front Side: Aqua Back Side : Water Aquifer, aquatic, aqualine

  4. Vocabulary Duel Game • with one set of cards you will play a round against 1 other player. Keep the deck out of sight and draw one card at a time. The first player to say the correct definition of the word wins. • The player with more cards at the end of the round wins. For the second round play with the definition side up, players must guess the root instead of the definition.

  8. Prefix Line Match Review: Copy down the 14 text boxes you see on a piece of paper. On the next slide you need to copy down the words provided in the exact order. Next, draw a line to the correct definition. The top three quickest and most accurate students earn Extra Credit.
