  1. Italian Clubs of Alcoholics in TreatmentData Base 2006 The italian Club Data Base 2006 shows 496 youngsters aged ≥ 15 to ≤ 29 years attending regularly the Clubs. Out of those, 124 were attending a Club for their own problems, while 372 were attending as family members with a relative who had a problem.

  2. Age distribution Young people below 20, having alcohol related problems, are not numerous in our Clubs. Attendance increases substantially from age 25 onwards.

  3. Age distribution

  4. Percentage between youngsters attending a Club for their own problems, and those attending as family members together with a relative who has a problem.

  5. Type of population The young people attending our Clubs for their own problems are in majority boys (76%), while the majority of those attending as family members (together with a relative who has an alcohol problem) are girls (69%).

  6. Pattern ofconsumptionbefore/afterattending a Club Alcohol use before attending a Club: Among youngsters who are family members 33,3% Among youngsters with alcohol problems 93,5%

  7. Pattern ofconsumptionbefore/afterattending a Club Alcohol use during last 12 months: Among youngsters who are family members 19,1% Among youngsters with alcohol problems 54,0%

  8. Pattern ofconsumptionbefore/afterattending a Club Alcohol use during last 30 days: Among youngsters who are family members 9,9% Among youngsters with alcohol problems 21,8%

  9. Alcoholconsumptionamongyoungsters 15-29 years

  10. Pattern ofconsumptionbefore/afterattending a Club Alcohol consumption shows in both cases a progressive reduction, but surprisingly, the reduction is stronger among those affected by a problem of their own (-76%) than among the family members (-70%).

  11. Satisfaction index Changing the life style: a self-evaluation questionnaire shows that about 55% of young members, regardless whether having their own problem or being family members, have declared a satisfaction index of 70% or more about their own change of life style.

  12. Composite index If we put together those who achieve a good life style change (70% or more) and those who achieve sobriety (not drinking over the last 30 days), we can see that these objectives are reached by 67% of the youngsters family members and by 61% of the youngsters with alcohol problems. Not a big difference.
