  4. Sum it up • John enters the hospital and is taken to Ward 81, the senility ward • His mother’s room is very pleasant -television -synthetic music -changing scents • John confuses the nurse with his questions.

  5. The visit with Linda • Linda is very out of it. She awakens from her stupor when John says her name, but then falls back asleep. • John becomes nostalgic and sad =( • A group of Delta boys run in and are amazed by Linda. • The nurse explains why the boys are there. • John returns to his sadness but cannot bring the memories back.

  6. …continued • Linda wakes up again, but calls for Popé. • Her last words are “Everyone belongs to every…” • John runs for help. When he comes back to discover that Linda is dead, he is again very very sad.

  7. The Aftermath • The nurse asks John to quit behaving so weird. • The Delta boys run up to watch the scene, and the nurse offers them chocolate eclairs. • John leaves to avoid all the boys’ questions about Linda
