  1. Ms. Lewis and Ms. Schwebke are in the process of designing the background for the 5th grade musical. It is a mural that is painted on wooden panels. We are following steps similar to what is described in the book, Making Murals. Making Connections

  2. Ms. Lewis and Ms. Schwebke needed to decide what the background should look like. The background needs to fit the theme of the musical.

  3. Ms. Lewis and Ms. Schwebke found a picture of an American Landscape and enlarged it to the size we wanted. Ms. Lewis photocopied the picture onto a transparency. She then divided the picture into 6 parts so it would fit onto the 6 panels.

  4. Ms. Lewis and Ms. Schwebke projected their images onto the panels by using an overhead projector. They labeled the parts of the mural so that they can go back and assign each section a paint color.

  5. The murals will be painted in the next few weeks. First, the sections will be painted one color. Then details will be added to show dimension.

  6. Our school will enjoy the musical and the murals on April 24th and 25th. Ms. Lewis, Ms. Schwebke, and the 5th graders hope you enjoy the show!
