  1. Hitler’s plan was that the German bombers would attack British airfields, destroying all the RAF planes. His fighter planes would attack any British planes which tried to gun down his bombers.

  2. The Germans were confident of success. They believed their plane the Messerschmitt was superior to the British planes the Spitfire and Hurricane. However in reality the planes were more equally matched.

  3. The British developed a radar system which detected German planes before the reached the British coast. Also the German planes only had enough fuel to fly for 30 minutes at a time, indeed because they flew so close together it made it easier for the British to shoot them down.

  4. Although a lot of British planes were destroyed they were quickly produced (much faster than the Germans had thought). Also because the British pilots fought so bravely, refusing to give up. The Germans eventually called off their operation.
