Born on April 28, 1937 in Tikrit Iraq • Abandoned by father early and went to work at the age of 6. • Went to live with his uncle KhairallahTulfah, who sparks an interest in politics with the young Saddam. • His uncle was the auther of the book “Three Whom God Should not have created: Persians, Jews and Flies”.   3. Saddam joins the Baath Party, which had a goal of bettering the lives of the Iraqi Citizens. • Saddam was tasked with assassinating the current Prime Minister. But missed his shot and had to flee the country until the current party was overthrown. • Upon returning he was given power of the security forces and was known for having little regard to human life. • Quickly rises through the ranks of the Baath Party, and was ultimately put in charge of the country. Saddam puts his family in positions of power. • Declares war on Iran with the intent of obtaining their Oil Fields. • Gathers a group of Baath Party members together for an announcement and has 40 of them killed for plotting to over throw him. • In economic depression that follows Saddam begins systemically wiping out the Kurds in Northern Iraq and even uses biological weapons on them. Many argue that the rest of the world did not know what is going on within Iraq. • In fact the US was allocating funds and arms to Saddam in hopes that he would over throw the Iranian Fundamentalist Regime. • But when Saddam decided to invade Kuwait for their oil the US decided to step in. • Desert Storm began and only lasted 40 days, Saddam was backed out of Kuwait but maintains power of Iraq. As a result of Desert Storm weapons inspectors are sent in to Iraq to search for Weapons of Mass Destruction. • Many weapons are found and dismantled but the inspectors always felt like they were in a game of cat and mouse. • In 1998 the inspectors leave Iraq and will not be allowed to return. • Talks of their return go on fervently until 2003. • In March of 2003 President Bush gives Saddam an ultimatum to either let inspectors back in or the US would invade.   7. On March 19, 2003 the US and some allied forces invade Iraq. • They quickly overtake the Country and Saddam goes into hiding. • 8 months after the invasion Saddam is found hiding in a hole outside of his home town of Tikri. The Hunt Begins

  8. The trial begins in October of 2005 and is conducted by a Special Iraqi Tribunal. • One month later Saddam is found guilty and sentenced to death. • On December 26, 2006 Saddam is put to death for his crimes by hanging. The Trial
