  6. IPA Action groups • New northern circumpolar soil carbon database (NCSCD): G. Hugelius. Publication in ESSD with new numbers on the soil organic carbon pool • New LGM map of permafrost: J. Vandenberghe. To come in 2014 • New subsea permafrost map: P. Overduin. First workshop to be held at EUCOP4 in Evora, Portugal

  7. New permafrost map • Group chaired by S. Gruber (CAN) tasked with setting the framework for the creation of a new permafrost map. • First meeting to be held in 2014. • New map to be released after 2016.

  8. Education & Outreach Standing Committee • Chaired by K. Yoshikawa (USA) • Frost tubes installed in schools throughout the Arctic to monitor permafrost • Partnership with University of the Arctic on operating a database on permafrost courses • Early career researcher workshop (ca. 100 participants) in Evora in partnership with PYRN, APECS, PAGE21, ADAPT, CliC and the Bolin Centre.

  9. Other activities • ICARP III workshop on Permafrost and land use (O. Habeck) at the ASSW in April 2014 • UNEP report published in late 2012 • Recommendation: „Create National Permafrost Monitoring Networks” • ICOP Conference in Potsdam, 20-24 June 2016
