  1. Comm Arts-Day 6 (computers are needed at the end ONLY if your homework is on edmodo)Bell Ringer (3 mins) Copy each sentence, make any corrections that are necessary, and identify which of the five senses is being used for each sentence. • Nature is full of wonder and I enjoy it most when I am looking at the stars. • The babbling brook trickles down the side of the mountain • The soft and fluffy and smooth cloud sails across the sky hiding the sun.

  2. Lesson Goal and Essential Question • Lesson Goal: Quality of nature can change. • Essential Question: How do I figure out the argument of an author? What is my relationship to nature?

  3. Review Exit Ticket from Wednesday • The correct answer was……”The Freeway?” • Why? (1 minute)

  4. For Richard Chase (28) and Baptisms (42) (10 minutes) • Finally the last reading will be independent and following reading you will complete a type 1 answering these questions-Both this poem and the one we read earlier this week are about nature. How are these two poems similar or different? Which poem persuades you to believe their argument more? Why? Use the text to support your answer.

  5. Class Discussion • How many of you agree more with the first poem, Baptisms? • How many of you agree more with the second poem, For Richard Chase? • Which one is better at persuasion and why? (3 mins)

  6. Imagery • 5 Senses: Hear, Taste, See, Smell, and Feel. • Where do we see it in For Richard Chase? • (1 minute)

  7. Imagery continued (Exit Ticket) • Pick one sense. Describe your favorite scene of nature using only that one sense. Three lines, two minutes.

  8. Homework Discussion • Discuss your answer to the question(s) with your group. Then lets share out as a class. • Respond to this question about the quote below. What do you think the author thinks about human’s and nature’s interactions and connections? Do you agree or disagree with the author?
