  4. AIM OF THE STRATEGY A safe, cost-conscious, flexible and practical path to the future which aids decision-making, does not rely on commitment to the unknown, and will be responsive to future scenarios.

MAJOR FEATURES OF THE STRATEGY • Performance-driven and customer-oriented approach to service provision; • The systematic approach; • New management and rule-making processes; • Involvement of all partners; • Comprehensive gate-to-gate management of flights; • Airspace management and use based on user needs; • Uniform application of principles, rules and procedures.

  6. MAJOR FEATURES OF THE STRATEGY (contd.) Leading to: Safe, economically and environmentally sustainable services.

  7. EUROPEAN ATM NETWORK • A safe, flexible European network; • A System of systems; • Encompassing users, airports and ATM; • Adaptable and scaleable; • Prioritised deployment of new, sophisticated tools.

  8. THE POTENTIALS OF THE STRATEGY • Creation of a more direct - i.e. a more effective - road to an ATM Network geared to the future capacity & safety demands; • Recipe for a more effective use of the available resources.

  9. FROM STRATEGY TO REALITY • In accordance with the Strategy’s and the sub-strategies’ lines of action and applying the supporting operational concept, the Strategy will be converted into action plans; • The action plans will be converted into ECAC-wide, regional or local programmes/projects. The conversion and application of these activities will take place in accordance with the management processes prescribed in the Strategy.
