What is the Goal of Sustainability? • Make and distribute products that do not diminish natural resources and are not harmful to human life and ecosystems • Reduction in environmental impact • Reduction in toxics and waste • Reduction in packaging • More recyclable materials used • Less energy

  7. Sustainable Green Printing Partnership Vision Establish the print and graphic communications industry as a leader/model within the business community for the adoption and promotion of sustainable business practices designed to reduce the global impact of the industry sector.

Sustainability Approach PRODUCT: Design aspects and input material management to create the product PROCESS: All manufacturing steps (prepress, press & postpress) involved with converting raw materials into a finished product including process by-products that have an environmental, health and safety impact ENVELOPE: All the manufacturing support activities and includes the building, grounds, utilities, employees, and other functions at an individual site

Sustainable Green Printing Partnership Launched! • August 28, 2008 • Now Accepting Applications • Log onto www.sgppartnership.org and set up account • Complete application and submit payment • Eligible printers – US and Canadian • Printers, in-plants, newspapers, schools, binderies • Applies to individual facilities

Sustainable Green Printing Partnership SGP Categories • Candidate Pending Verification • Must meet minimum criteria • One year time limit • Not allowed to use SGP Logo • Will be acknowledged on SGP web site • SGP Printer • Must meet identified criteria • Allowed to use SGP Logo • Subject to site specific verification
