  2. What does “troubleshoot” mean? Troubleshooting

  3. What should I do if my laptop is frozen or some of the applications are not working properly? A “Frozen” Laptop

  4. Try a “Restart” first: Click the key with the “Windows” icon…and then... “FROZEN”

  5. IF THE COMPUTER IS FROZEN WON’T LET YOU RESTART: Complete a “HARD” shut down: Hold down the power button until the machine cuts off. After 30 seconds, turn your laptop back on. “Frozen”

  6. What should I do if I cannot connect to the network or browse the Internet? No Internet Connection

  7. Make sure the “wireless light” is on. No Internet Connection

  8. If not on: Fn + F5 to manually turn “wireless” on. No Internet Connection

  9. Also, make sure you are connected to the “ACPS” wireless network and not the “ACPS Public” network. No Internet Connection

  10. What if I can’t see everything I should be able to see on my screen? Screen Issues

  11. Adjust your screen resolution: • Minimize all applications • Right click on the “desktop” and choose “screen resolution.” • A higher number (1366x768) will allow you to see more than a lower number (800x600) Screen Issues

  12. What if my laptop won’t turn on? No Power? No Charge?

  13. Make sure your battery is inserted correctly. • Only try pressing the battery into place when your AC adapter is NOT plugged into the wall. No Power? No Charge?

  14. Also try plugging your AC adapter into the wall because your battery may be dead or unable to hold a charge. • If this doesn’t work, try another receptacle (to make sure there isn’t a faulty receptacle). No Power? No Charge?

  15. Loaners are available in the morning: bring your laptop to the Library when the 8:55 bell rings. • We will also set up times during Homeroom and during Lunch (when our Widget program is up and running). • The “Widgets” are students who help in the library to check laptops with problems. What if my laptop still won’t work?
